use of divided dishes for pureed diets

30 Oct 2013 8:50 PM | Mary Lou Bialon
Recently my Administrator asked the food service department to stop using the divided dishes for the pureed diets. He stated that it is a dignity issue.  What are your thoughts on the use of these dishes for pureed diets?

We use them at our facility. The food doesn't run into each other. You could write it into your policy to assure DOH compliance.

They do look institutional and "child-like." I suggest using the lipped plates and if your puree is the correct consistency, foods should not run into each other.
