Advanced Practice Nutritional Management of Bariatric Surgery Patients
Speaker Dr. John Bock, DCN, RD, CNSC, will describe the role of advanced practice clinicians, including RDs, in the pre- and postoperative care of bariatric surgery patients. During this lecture practitioners will learn how to incorporate techniques of nutrition-focused physical examination techniques and how to assess improper eating issues with patients. Case studies will also be included to provide a real world approach in treating patients experiencing food intolerance and/or maladaptive eating behaviors postoperatively.


Nutrition Interventions in the Elderly Cancer Patient: Impact on Quality of Life
Speaker Dr. Maureen Huhmann, DCN, RD, CSO will be presenting on the nutritional management of the elderly cancer patient. She will include a discussion on the incidence and impact of weight loss on patient outcome as well as the role of nutrition impact symptoms in the care of these patients and nutrition interventions to palliate those symptoms.
